Self defence & Shito ryu technical seminar in Rhodes island - November 2014


On November 29 & 30, 2014 was organized on the island of Rhodes Karate seminar by the instructor of Shito ryu, Mr. Gerasimos Giakoumatos, conducted by the representative of the World Shito ryu Karate do Federation in Greece, George Pelekis.

On Saturday November 29, the program included basic techniques of Shito ryu, and Sunday, November 30 focused on the part of self-defense.

The seminar was hosted by A.A. "Samurai" Shidokan Karate and was attended by instructors and students from other martial art styles like Shotokan, Shidokan, Jiu Jitsu, Hapkido and Philippino.
















The participants were pleased and excited by the information gained two days duration of the course and on the depth of George Pelekis’ knowledge, who had been posed, mainly by trainers and experts of other styles, but answered every question demonstrating even plethora of alternatives for any occasion, on the various techniques.

It was an introductory seminar for George Pelekis who lectured about the sources of the system and its representatives through his personal experiences and knowledge and Rhodes trainer Gerasimos Giakoumatos who expressed desire to join the family of Mabuni Shito ryu Karate do and represent it in Rhodes.











Apart from teaching during the seminar followed a personal training between Gerasimos Giakoumatos and George Pelekis to evaluate the technical level of Rhodes instructor as well as discussion on technical and procedural issues relating to the affiliation of a new member and the acceptance of Sensei Giakoumatos and his technical progress by George Pelekis.

George Pelekis departing from the island expressed satisfaction from the meeting, the hospitality experienced in recent days and the positive outlook of the entry of a new member in the family of Mabuni Shito ryu Karate do.
