Technical Seminar & Black belts examination in India – May 2026
George Pelekis traveled to India, specifically to the State of Kerala, to teach at the two-day Shito-ryu Karate technical seminar and conduct Black Belt and Dan promotional examinations as a guest of ″Kassis Karate Academy in India″.
The seminar, which took place on 2 & 3 of May 2026, and was attended by students and instructors from the group and from other schools in India, included basic techniques and principles of the style, Kata and Bunkai (analysis), competitive Kata as well as self-defense techniques.
After the seminar, the examinations were conducted by George Pelekis (7th Dan Renshi), with an examiner license from World Shito-ryu Karate-do Federation, a historic event as it is the first time that WSKF exams are held at the ″Kassis Karate Academy″ in India.
Many congratulations to Sensei Santhosh Augustine and Sensei Manoj Maniyan, President and General Secretary respectively, for the impeccable organization of the event and the particularly warm hospitality they reserved for George Pelekis, creating unforgettable impressions from the trip.
The contact with the local community, the exchange of cultures and the common love for the further dissemination of Shito-ryu were an unforgettable experience and the strengthening of bonds of friendship.
Of course, this trip also included a tour of the state’s sights.
Warm thanks to the representative of ″Kassis Karate Academy″ in India and especially to Sensei Santhosh Augustine for the honorary invitation to our club’s teacher George Pelekis, whose knowledge, discipline and humble personality impressed every student and teacher, expressing the desire for a future similar seminar.
Finally, it should be noted that George Pelekis publicly thanked his teacher Con Kassis at the opening ceremony as well as Sensei Rosanna Kassis for her proposal to teach at this particular seminar.
