Technical seminars with George Pelekis in Mauritius – July 2025
The visit of George Pelekis to exotic Mauritius from July 18 to 28, 2025, at the invitation of Sensei Patrick Julien, was completed with great success.
The purpose of the visit was a series of technical seminars in Shito-ryu Karate and the introduction of the Mauritian school to the art of Shitoryu as created by its founder, Master Kenwa Mabuni.
Sensei George Pelekis (7th Dan Renshi) covered a considerable part of the material up to Black belt, offering participants valuable knowledge and a deeper understanding of the basic principles and technique of Shitoryu, as well as the history – tradition of the style.
During the seminars, both the Mauritian students and Sensei Patrick Julien were delighted with the knowledge, the transferability and the simplicity of Sensei Pelekis, overwhelming him with countless questions as well as their thirst for learning.
The hospitality of Sensei Julien and his family was touching and exemplary, with Sensei Pelekis enjoying unique moments in traditional events and tours of the magnificent landscapes of the island.
The next seminar, which will also include promotional exams, has already been discussed since Sensei Patrick Julien is now under the supervision of Shihan George Pelekis, making a new dynamic beginning with the aim of developing Shito-ryu Karate-do on the island of Mauritius and with steady steps towards its future inclusion in the World Shitoryu.
