Technical Seminar with Soke Mabuni & Kaicho Iwata in Australia – May 2023

On May 27, 28 & 29, 2023, the President of Shitokai Greece, George Pelekis, traveled to far away Australia to attend the Shitoryu Karate technical seminar organized by Shitokai Australia and conducted by the successor of the system Soke
Kenyu Mabuni and the President of World Shito-ryu Karate-do Federation Master Genzo Iwata.

It was a historic event because for the first time these two great teachers conducted together a seminar outside Japan which was dedicated to the memory of Master Con Kassis.
The seminar lasted for three days and after the seminar, promotion examinations for Black Belt and Dan levels were conducted with Soke Mabuni as the head of the examination board. Sensei Rosanna Kassis and George Pelekis were also members of the examination committee.

The impeccable organization and excellent hospitality of the seminar belonged to its organizer, the Director of Shitokai Australia, Sensei Rosanna Kassis, while Sensei George Pelekis received a warm welcome from friends, athletes and instructors of the Australian Dojo.

During their stay in Australia, specifically in the city of Melbourne, Soke Kenyu Mabuni, Kaicho Genzo Iwata, Shihan George Pelekis and other instructors visited together the burial place of Master Con Kassis, who passed away one year ago, placing flowers on his memorial and offering silent prayers, a gesture that as they said was the most important part of their trip.
