10th International Shito-ryu Karate-do Championships in Jakarta – September 2023

The Technical Director of the Dojo and representative of the World Shitoryu Karate-Do Federation for Greece, George Pelekis, participated in the 10th Shito-ryu World Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia from September 20 to 24, 2023 under the auspices of the World Shito-ryu Karate-do Federation (WSKF).

This event takes place every 3 years in a different country of the world and includes a congress of representatives of the member countries, an official dinner, technical seminars, refereeing seminars, Dan examinations, promotional examinations for instructors, as well as the championship. The participation of both teachers and student-athletes who flock from all over the world is very large.

The event was honored once again by Soke Kenyu Mabuni as well as the President of the World Shito-ryu Federation Genzo Iwata who were flanked by high-ranking Japanese teachers.

The President of Shitokai Greece, in addition to the opportunity to see old and new friends, to be present at the regular meeting of the representatives of the countries, at the technical and refereeing seminars, and also participated in the examinations held for teachers, from which he was awarded the title Renshi (Japanese term of respect for experts of the art) being the first Greek to have been awarded this title, while during the Championship which culminates the event as always, he acted as a referee.
The date has been renewed for the 11th World Championship that will take place in 2026 in Japan.
