Shitoryu Karate Technical Seminar in Portugal – May 2025
On May 10 & 11, 2025, the students Panagiota Kaltaki (3rd Dan) and Maria Katsimiga (2nd Dan) from “Yoshukan” branch in Greece, together with the Technical manager and representative of the World Shito-ryu Karate-do Federation in Greece, George Pelekis (7th Dan Renshi), traveled to Portugal to attend the Shitoryu Karate technical seminar, with the renowned Sensei Allen Tanzadeh (8th Dan Kyoshi).
The two-day seminar was organized by W.S.K.F. representative in Portugal, Carlos Pereira, and Sensei Costa Carlos, was hosted at a sports center in Lisbon and brought together practitioners and teachers from various countries of Europe. Sensei Tanzadeh, with his deep knowledge of Shitoryu and long-standing experience, guided the participants through an intensive program of theory and practical training.
The seminar focused on both basic techniques and advanced applications of Kata and Bunkai, emphasizing the principles that govern Shitoryu and the precision of the technique. During the last part of the seminar, he taught a dynamic competitive Kata, thus approaching the athletic part of the style.
The event left excellent impressions on the participants, who had the opportunity to train under the guidance of a respected representative of the art.
As in every trip, the participants, in addition to attending the seminars, had the opportunity to tour the sights and get to know the beauties of the city, its flavors and people.
