Kumite & Kata Seminar with George Pelekis in Crete island – October 2025
The seminar organized by the Athletic Association “Filonikos” at its facilities in Heraklion and Arkalochori, Crete, was held with great success on October 17-18 & 19, 2025, and conducted by the representative of the World Shito-ryu Karate-do Federation in Greece, George Pelekis 7th Dan Renshi.
The three-day seminar was divided into two-hour sections depending on the level and age of the athletes, while after its end, Dan certificates of World Federation were awarded to athletes who had been examined last June.
The first part contained Kumite techniques while in the second part of the seminar the teaching covered the technique of Shito-ryu style giving the participants the opportunity once again to benefit from the knowledge and transferability of George Pelekis who is now a source of inspiration for the athletes of the Cretan association as he brings them even more into contact with this particular style of Karate.
However, congratulations are due to the Sensei of “FILONIKOS” Dojo, Alexandros Zaimakis 5th Dan Jokyo, who does an excellent job in both schools, having created athletes with ethos and zeal for learning, while the warm hospitality he offers each time to the guest is remarkable.
