International Tamiya-ryu Iaido Gasshuku in Belgium – March 2026
On March 27 to 29, 2026, George Pelekis, representative of Tamiya-ryu Iaido in Greece, along with two members of Iaido (Japanese Swordsmanship), group of the Dojo, were in the city of Roeselare, Belgium, to attend the “International Tamiya-ryu Gasshuku”.
A seminar organized by the head of the system outside Japan Patrik Demuynck Sensei (7th Dan Kyoshi), with the head of the system worldwide Kenji Suzuki Sensei (7th Dan Kyoshi) as a guest.
An opportunity for participants to delve deeper into the techniques of the Japanese sword (Katana) and the philosophy of Tamiya-ryu school under the watchful eye of two leading masters of the style.
Several Iaido practitioners from Europe and beyond were present.
Another opportunity for the Greek team to meet old friends and make new ones during the two-day seminar and at the official dinner that took place on Saturday night at a restaurant in the city.
And of course, there was also the established guided tour of the country’s sights, as is the case with any trip that combines knowledge of the art with the exploration of another country.
